Got a rock chip on the windshield that started to run. I called Toyota dealer for an estimate and found that the replacement was very expensive. On top of that I was informed that in order to replace the windshield the camera housing which is mounted on the windshield would get broken during the procedure and new parts would be in addition to the cost of the actual windshield. Also a calibration would have to be done to the camera which would also result in further costs.

My rant is....why would Toyota design such a poor system that requires breaking perfectly good parts in order to replace a windshield? Globally this costs consumers thousands of dollars for a very common accident. Rocks damaging a windshield happens every day and cannot be avoided. I suggest Toyota recall the RAV4 with this camera assembly and provide a more viable and less costly fix.
