Sad to say I paid over $75,000 for this and now I'm scared to drive it.

I used to take this vehicle on long drives with my family. Now in the back of my head I'm thinking what if I drive it and the chassis just breaks off?

I was unware of the sequoia rust problem until I saw it on yahoo website. Then some few days later, I got a confirmation from carcomplaints.com. I take this opporunity to thank you for this alert. I then instructed my newphew and brother inlaw to send the truck to an autobody shop for checking. Lo and behold they sent me these aweful pictures. Toyota USA has not responded to my mail I sent them this week concerning the rust issue. I have loaded these pictures and resent them to Toyota USA - (toyota_cares@toyota.com) My truckis in West Africa and I asked toyota what to do in my mail but no response. The autobody shop has said I I need to buy an anti-rust protection of my choice for them to work on te chassis. I am still waiting for a response from Toyota. As the days go by without response, I fear for the worst. I trusted Toyota trucks but my confidence has dropped to the lowest ebb.

Update from Nov 22, 2016: This is a response I got from toyota today

At this time, the details of the proposed Toyota Truck Frame Class Action Settlement are still being finalized. Assuming the court grants preliminary approval, registered vehicle owners involved will receive notice of the proposed settlement by a court-appointed Settlement Advisor.

Due to the vehicle being outside the U.S., we have no information as to if the vehicle will be involved or covered under the proposed settlement. We apologize, as we do not authorize, recommend, or support the export of United States (U.S.) specification vehicles outside of the U.S.

Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters.

Sincerely,

Daniell T. Toyota Customer Experience Center"

In event of recall, is toyota not supposed to to fix the trucks irrespective of its geographical local? Will contune to pursue this matter.

Update from Nov 23, 2016: Realised all pictures did not come through

Update from Oct 10, 2017: I was told since I am not resident in US I cannot benefit from the class action. If only I could ship the truck back to US, then I could benefit. I had the framed worked upon at a body workshop.

Update from Jan 7, 2018: I had the problem solved by having a body shop work on it. The scraped all lose rust and treated it with Anti-rust. They checked the internal frame and realised there was no damage. I am now happy with rsult.
