Sienna Limited V6

This is the second time to replace the rotors. It would be acceptable if they were worn out. That is not the case. They are warped due to inadequate design. Either they are not large enough or the casting has too many thickness inconsistencies. This is inconsequential, the issue is that an owner should not need to replace rotors in the front every 30k miles! I paid extra to do recall modifications that were supposed to solve this issue. The solution was ineffectual. The service representative at Sunnyvale Toyota in CA says this is normal. Hum... really? I wish the sales person would have mentioned this issue.

Sienna XLE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles

Brakes pulsate. Car now has 36k, brakes have been replaced 3X. I recently did them myself with new rotors.

Rotors get extremely hot, still. Used a heat gun to determine. Dealer did not even blink an eye to try and fix.

My only guess is bad calipers. Gonna have a local garage take a look soon and will try to update. 12-7-18 date of writing this, will try to add more info in the future.

We love the van and Toyota overall but with a so-so crash rating and now brake problems, I have serious concerns about my family's safety.

Sienna XE 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

Brakes cause the van to shake/vibrate when trying to stop. Checked all the brake pads and they're all have more than 3/4 life left. Rotors look fairly smooth. Unable to determine the actual cause. The van had about 19,400 miles when this was first noticed. Annoying and scary at first, now more so than before. I don't see any Toyota recalls, and if this is common, it's a safety issue and should be addressed by Toyota to get it fixed. If they dropped this far in quality, is it still worth owning a Toyota? I have a Previa, and never had any issues that were out of the standard maintenance (had over 200K and donated it to Cancer Research).

Sienna XLE

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,500 miles

Bought the 2015 sienna XLE just 2 months ago, its brake pedal starts to show some annoying problems.

When foot is pressing on the pedal, for the first inch or so, there is a clear pulsating feeling, feel like a rubber piston moving without proper lubrication, or finger moving on wet glass. This initially happens once in a while, but within one week, it starts to happen around 70% time.

It is not rotor or pad issue, since it happens even when car is in parking position.

Already talked with my dealer. But the technician said it is normal. He did mention about lubricating the linkage or master cylinder briefly, but later insisted it is the way Sienna feels. He then let me try a few other Sienna at service. Although I absolutely felt the clear difference, he insisted they all feel the same.

Today, I opened the front hood, and found a little brake fluid around the thread of master cylinder, where a pipe connects to calipers.

This is very annoying, especially for a brand new family car. What to do if I am sure there is a problem, but dealer refused to do anything?
