Sienna

  • 5,000 miles
On Friday, 2/10/17, our 5 month old Sienna was driven into our secure garage and parked. Nothing was out of the ordinary. On Sunday, 2/12/17, the van was found with the right side rear glass exploded on the ground and inside the vehicle. The van had not been touched by anyone. I have home security camera footage confirming that the glass was intact when parked and that nobody other than myself had set foot in the garage during the time in question. Only by chance had I positioned our children's car seats to the left side of the bench seat and the seats were not occupied at the time the glass failed. Otherwise I would have been removing glass fragments from my kid's lap, face, ears, eyes mouth, etc.. I feel very lucky but have little confidence that this will not happen again. So far, the Toyota dealership where the Sienna was purchased has been unwilling to cover this under warranty or acknowledge this is a manufacturer or installation flaw but they are willing to fix it if I pay them $790.
