Tacoma Prerunner 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,000 miles

STAY AWAY FROM TACOMA PRERUNNER 4.0!!! Thought I would go get me a nice NEW Toyota tacoma 4 door, long bed. Yeah, POS!!! Toyota started off building a reputation through quality vehicles. Once the word got out they started mass producing CRAP. At 7,000 miles a constant pain in the ass ticking from the engine, similar to a bad lifter started up. Well, wouldn't ya know they claim it sounds like that. SURE DIDN'T when I drove it off the lot!!! Well, took it back for that same noise numerous times and all I get is it's suppose to sound like that. For $28,000+ it shouldn't make a DAMN NOISE! Well, on my way i'll go with my rattling engine because I paid too much to take more of a loss. PLEASE AVOID This truck, I've got a folder at home of problems on it.

Tacoma Sr5 Prerunner V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,000 miles

brought to the dealer several times, also contacted Toyota corporate customer help. Toyota claims engine rattle is normal. It did not do it a year ago when i bought it and of coarse they would not let me prove it on a new model either. Had to switch to expensive Chevron gas to fix the problem. this is the only brand of fuel that helps the noise. I am very disappointed in Toyota for blowing me off on this. They deserve a kick in the rear for this one. People buy Toyota for reliability and peace of mind. This is a sure way for them to become like other automakers who have a rep for being problematic. Does anyone else have this problem ??
