There was an annoying squeak coming from the rear suspension. Turned out being a leaf spring problem they said was common. This is the second time the squeak has happened. It occurred at about 30,000 miles and the dealership took care of it under the warranty. The fix lasted about 15000 more miles before it started squeaking again. Unfortunately, the vehicle was no longer under warranty. Even if it was, I'm not really interested in changing them every third oil change. I have been a loyal Toyota buyer (4th vehicle). They don't make them like they used to. I have a '99 that endures over and above my 2011.

Bought the truck in May; by October the rear end was squeaking. Dealership told me that it was a common problem with Tacomas. They lubricated the leaf spring silencer pads. Lasted two months. In January they "inserted rags between leaf springs as per TSB"; lasted two more months. In April they told me I had "improper freeplay at leaf spring pads" so they "replaced all 8 leaf spring pads as per TSB 3666". Let's hope this fixes it for good.

Called the dealership. When contacted about the problem, they claimed that it is a problem that they are aware of. However they have already attempted to correct the problem with grease, (didn't last long), and separators (again failed). So they informed me that there was no solution at this time, and they said to call back in a couple weeks.
Very dissatisfied.

I bought this truck as a Certified Used Vehicle. No issues during the test drive. Several days later the suspension started to squeak. I took it to the dealership, they said it was sand in the suspension. I sprayed it out and while it was wet, the noise went away. After it dried, it came back. I sprayed WD40 on it which fixed it for about 2 days. I went back to the dealership and explained the problem, they said there was nothing they could do. I have been dealing with this for almost 7 months now and stopped back by the dealership today. Now they say they do have silencing pads but neither the parts or labor would be covered under warranty. Very disappointing to hear since this isn't a wear and tear issue. This is a Toyota issue! If I had an option for squeaky suspension or Non-squeaky suspension when I bought it, I would have gone with Non-squeaky suspension. It is utterly rediculous that Toyota is refusing to correct this "KNOWN" problem. This is just a simple stupid fix that wouldn't cost much to the company to satisfy their customers. But instead, they would rather try to dig deeper in your pockets. This squeaking noise is HIGHLY ANNOYING. So much so, that I don't think I will buy another Toyota. Especially since they refuse to cover the quick cheap fixes that irritate the customers the most. I now fear they won't cover more serious issues if they were to arise.
