The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Tundra. While at a traffic light the vehicle suddenly caught fire near the fuel pump. The contact was able to safely get out of the vehicle immediately and call the fire department who extinguished the fire. There were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact notified the manufacturer regarding the fire and filed a claim. The manufacturer also had the vehicle inspected by an investigator which confirmed that the fire started within the fuel pump. The contact received a letter after the investigation from the manufacturer stating that they were not responsible. The contact stated that since the failure was a safety issue, the manufacturer should be responsible. The failure mileage was 68,000.
