problem #2

Tundra XSP 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 122,000 miles

My right rear tire began to lose air pressure. I would fill it and within a day it would happen again causing the tire pressure light to come on. I took it to the shop and was told it was the tire pressure sensor valve.

Tundra Limited Dbl Cab V8

2 of my for Tire Presure Monitoring Valve Stems would leak after checking air pressure in tires. They are aluminum...and used to have aluminum caps, but they would corrode horribly when installed. Replaced with plastic caps. But the pin inside the stem, would not close all the way...resulting in a leak of air from those wheels.

I initially would play with them...an spit test a few times to get them to stop leaking.

Finally found the advice to drop a drop of a synthetic lubricant (like the kind advised for mountain bike chains at a bicycle shop)...prior to filling it with air. Then blow air into the tire and the valve gets lubed . Seems to have worked for > 2 months
