My son drives this truck. The truck was purchased new in 2006 by my father in law. Today, while driving in a residential area, the wheel shook, my son heard a pop, and the left wheel separated from the barring thus skidding on the ground. The truck has been towed to a service center to be evaluated.

I purchased this vehicle from another man. The truck would steer off when it would hit a small bump or hole in the road. I took it to Goodyear to see if it was something to do with the alignment and found out the whole front end suspension and everything attached to it needed to be changed. This happens when the truck is motion and have had to change and rotate the tires more than once within this year. There is wear on the front tires on the outside. I will have to change them again when we fix the alignment. This also happens on any street and is pretty scary when driving on the highway. The tires sound like I'm peeling out or the tire is flat as I'm driving down the road. I can't make sharp turns because the tires start skipping. I have not made any repairs to it because I can't afford to pay the bill at this time. Only thing I've fixed is the tires. The lights on the dash show that the tires are low on air. The cost quoted to me would be close to $2000. I also heard from many people that the year I have with the Tundra have had the same complaints as I have. It's a 2006 Toyota Tundra and is my first truck purchase for myself.. my first vehicle was a 1983 Toyota Camry and I loved it!! I've never had any kind of issue with a Toyota in the past and would like to continue to think anything but positive things! Toyota's are definitely built to last and would love to pass it down to my son but unfortunately we have to postpone considering it's not safe for him to be driving. This is his last year in high school so hopefully we can get it back to him before the year is up.

My tires were rotated by discount tires (3836 plaza dr., ocnsd, ca). They did not tighten all the lugs on my right driver side tire and it flew off when I was driving and badly damaged my car. They are denying all responsibility and assume that the lugs are either tightened fully or not at all. I located all the lugs and only one sheared off the stuff. Also the safety stud was not tightened. Please investigate them to make sure they train they employees for proper and safe tire rotation. Also please let me know any other Agency that oversees tire rotation businesses. Thank you.

I purchased 4 new tires from bf goodrich dealer in Minnesota ON12/9/2015 they mounted and balanced and installed the tires. Then on 9/01/2017 I had a rear passenger tire explode and come apart at highway speed. I brought the damaged tire back to the dealership which installed them and contacted the manufacture only to find out that the tires the dealer sold me as new tires had a manufactures date of 09/2000 that meant that the tires where over 15 years old that they sold me as new tires and I believe that is ultimately the issue of the tire exploding causing a very serious situation and I was wondering what type of action as a consumer I can take to rectify this situation. Thanks and have a great day.

This is still a problem........since the original 70B recall. I was backing into the driveway when the left front ball joint failed. My son and I had just come off of the highway. My tire was nearly off the truck and it jammed into the left front quarter panel, I could not exit the driver side door. The nut came off and was on the ground, the cotter pin was no where to be found. I took my vehicle to the dealership and of course they would not may for this repair. I cannot understand what this defect has not been part of a mass recall by Toyota motors. This is still a problem and potential danger.

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the air pressure in two of the tires would constantly deflate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the dealer, who diagnosed that due to the porosity in the interior of the wheels, air would leak out from the wheels causing the tires to deflate. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Driving my 2006 Toyota Tundra on April 25 2014, I made a left hand turn onto a freeway on ramp, catastrophic ball joint failure on the drivers side causing me to loose control of the vehicle and hit the embankment. My car is supposedly 10 days out of the recall notice for the front lower ball joint and the dealership is refusing to honor the recall. Took my vehicle to the local Toyota dealership estimated $1400 repair bill. Had the ball joint failed while I was on the freeway this could have been a serious tragedy. From my research ball joint failure is a known issue on 2002-2006 Tundra but for whatever reason my car is 10 days outside the recall notice...updated 06/27/14 updated 10/21/2014

(Toyota going places) on wednesdays February 5, 2014 about 5:30pm, I was driving my 2006 Toyota Tundra to work. As I was making a right-hand turn onto I-95 South, the front left-hand side of my truck collapsed. To my surprise the ball joints head separated from the suspension, the left bottom front suspension was dragging the highway and the left front wheel was now stuck under the running board. This accident also damaged the left front bumper, the left front fender and the left front door. Needless to say I was traumatized. I saw no warning that this accident was about to happen. I kept my truck in immaculate condition and had regularly maintenance done at this Toyota dealership. We decided to do a search on the web to see if any recalls existed and there is a recall on the 2006 Toyota Tundra for this exact issue. However when I called Toyota corporate and provided my VIN number - low and behold my truck was not in that recall (my VIN# missed it by 15 days). The Toyota representative asked me to take my truck to the local Toyota dealership and get a written estimate. At my own expense, I had the truck towed and after about two days my repair expenses were denied by Toyota. However, I was offered $750 toward the purchase of a new Toyota for being a loyal customer. I purchased three new vehicles from this Toyota dealership (2006, 2007, & 2008). After fighting with the dealership and Toyota corporate for a day and half, I was asked to move my truck out of their shop. So at my expense my 2006 Tundra was towed back to my house (Toyota going places). Without exaggeration, a lot of people are going to get hurt if fatalities do not occur due to this defect. Toyota need another recall. Toyota going places - if the ball joints don't fall out sincerely yours, 06 Toyota Tundra owner

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the alloy wheels began to bubble, causing loss of air pressure in the tires and the tires to deflate. The rims were cleaned but all four wheels continued to leak air. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 39,000.

All four rims are the alloy wheel. They are all blistering and pieces of rims are falling out. Called Toyota they told in short there is no recall on them and there is nothing they can do. They also would not comment if there were others complaints on the rims. They told me there is nothing they will do until they are in recall.

Wheel corrosion on my 2006 Toyota Tundra 4D V8. Dealer had the wheels replaced about 2 yrs. Ago (still under warranty at that time). Now having the exact same problem or bubbling/corrosion under the sealant/paint with the new wheels and being told, "sorry, they're out of warranty". would appear to be an obvious manufacturing process defect to me that would lead to eventual lack of structural integrity.

I feel this is not an isolated case and can lead to catastrophic failure of the alloy wheels on Toyota trucks causing serious injury and possible death to driver and/or passengers. Alloy wheels are corroding with only 40,000 miles and Toyota won't even call me back. Service manager at northshore Toyota in Louisiana said it was due to extreme use. This was after a 30 second inspection. When I asked to speak with a factory rep. I was told that would not happen. Since then I have been given the run around by Toyota. I have owned and recommended Toyota's since 1974 and will now seriously reconsider my position.

My husband and I purchased a 2006 Toyota Tundra access cab on 11/25/06 at Toyota of fort worth Texas. Less than 6 days later, we were driving home on a street that leads to our house, less than a mile, we have been traveling this road for at least 15 years. It was slightly raining, we approached the curve to the left on this road. Made the curve and all of a sudden the wheels broke loose, my husband tried to correct but the truck began to accelerate, then turned completely sideways and crashed into two trees that were less than 5 feet from the road. It also appears that the 4 wheel anti lock brake system wasn't working.
