Tundra SR5 5.7L

Wondering if anyone else has no reception in their truck radio, and if so what was the fix? I put a new antenna, but still not working. The CD player works.

Tundra SR5, TRD, DBL CAB 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

The stereo quit working with 6 CDs stuck inside. Dealer removed and replaced. Dealer sent the stereo in to recover the CDs. When they finally got them back to the dealership, they disappeared before I could make the trip into the dealership to pick them up.

This is the 2nd factory stereo/6 disc CD Changer in my truck. The first one quit at about 32,000 miles in December of 2010. It was covered under warranty. I still lost the 6 CDs that were inside the stereo when it quit working. Now, in December of 2014, the stereo has died again, and it is once again full of CDs that I can't get to eject. This time the display has gone completely blank and it won't change stations, so if I turn it on to check, I'm stuck with some awful country music as the only station that picks up. No warranty left, so I'm probably stuck with the replacement cost. Now I am reading that this is a very common issue with the stereos on these trucks. Toyota has known about this issue since 2007, and yet the stereo replacement I had done at the end of 2010 apparently was with another stereo that still has the same issue.

Just frustrating. The radio goes off and on when it feels like it. You can't control the volume half the time. Says it's reading a disk but there is none in there. Tend to leave the radio off if possible so I don't have to deal with it.

Tundra SR5 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission

The radio and clock gradually started to malfunction the first year after ownership. I purchased this vehicle May, 2007. I would occasionally mentioned this when I have taken it in for service, but never really press too hard about it. Now the radio and clock has gotten progressively worse. I took the truck in for service this weekend 6/20/2009 and mentioned it again. The service person asked me did I have a extended warranty and I stated no this truck is only two years old. If this truck were to breakdown on the road you would think that at least the radio and clock would work. The issue my seem minor but to buy a new vehicle you would things like this wouldn't happen. It could be a loose connection or something that is very minor and Toyota should correct the problem without belly aching.
