Tundra Limited 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

After parking the truck for about ten minutes, I went back and got into my truck, which by the way was parked on a downtown parking spot that was a slight up hill slope. As I started the truck the 4-wheel drive Lo light appeared on the dash with an indicator beep that continued unless I shut the engine off. The truck was in 2-wheel drive position and I had not for months tried even to put it in to the 4-wheel drive position. At this point of unexpected responses from the truck I was sure that something was out of wack since this had occurred to me with this vehicle on a couple occasions prior.

So I proceeded to attempt to put the shifter in reverse only to realize that the truck was not in gear and only rolling backwards like the transmission had no clue that it was in a reverse gear. Next I put the shift lever into drive position and the same garbage appearing to still be in the neutral position. Got the same results regardless of the shifters position. Now at this point of all the other situations, where similar things were happening, this one was different because of the slope I was parked on that it became obvious that the transmission was completely out to lunch and could not be put back into park position and hold the truck in a stopped state. I turned the Hi/Lo selector on and off, pushed the Tow package option button on and off, I activated and deactivated every freaking option the truck has on it. NOTHING worked. Another aspect of the unexpected responses was that while the truck was running and when I attempted to re-engage into the park position the transmission started to produce a gear grinding sound that was not good.

I, after several attempts to clear this up decided to just keep turning off the ignition and moving the shift level to all it's possible positions until it finally came around to seeing things my way. I've also experienced, and still do since I bought this rig brand new, that the 4 wheel drive feature has a problem going into 4 wheel drive Low and back to High as well as 2 wheel drive selector position. What the connection for this is I don't know at this point but it seems likely that there is one. I've been sent at least three different recall letters regarding the window switches and the gas pedal, etc but hate to drop my drawers so to speak with that old saying of "if it ain't broke don't mess with it", especially at a dealership. There has not ever in my opinion been a dealership representative of any auto manufacture that's worth a plug nickle. If I could I'd shut them all down. They are the worst leaches in the country. If anyone has experienced a positive outcome then count your blessing and maybe take a trip to the casino's since your the lucky one or the lucky few. Not happening here I tell ya.

I read some of the other experiences posted and the guy who said something about the dealership manager NEVER EVER, in all his time in the business, had ever heard of such a thing, saying only operator error could cause this. He's a lying SOB and that's the type I'm talking about and the reason I avoid them like the plague. Who do these pigs think they are fooling when they make statements like that? I read from another post "Operator error my Fanny" Come by and I'll show em all those operator errors in person. How bout just doing what a representative of any product should be doing. Taking more then money, yes sir, in case they forgotten, it's called "Responsibility" in their job, not just the selling part but backing it up. Of course these jokers don't design, build, assemble or know the first thing about them except of course the taking of our money. For the most part car salesmen and women can't back up a car let alone support those who buy them. As a matter of fact they don't even have any idea of the options, features or functionality of what they get a commission for selling to us idiots. Boy you'd think I was talking about used cars or something but I'm talking about brand new off the line vehicles for 40-50 thousand dollars. "WTF" is going on here folks? Their selling them to us and turning their yellow backsides in our face. All types of REPS from the political to grocery stores are allowed to get away with robbery and theft. Since that's exactly what it "boils down too"?. You only get what you pay for right?? I think not..

Here's another part of a post that is "priceless" and not necessary for me to repeat but another example of what is going on. He said "Along the way I was talking to Toyota Corp about my problem and had a case manager appointed to me. Toyota Corp had sent a field tech to the dealer for further review. His test also showed no vehicle error found and that no related cases of transmissions coming out of park. He also indicated that this would only be possible from operator error". Here's another dirt bag making false acquisitions about a cash paying customer's experience. I guess if the experts in the field of automobile manufacturing and their dealership chumps say that we are just stupid consumers then what the ^%%#$&^* are we to do but sit back and eat their garbage. Not me if I can do anything about it. Save your money for the Tesla line of electric vehicles about to really hit the market place. Just keep lying through your blackened false teeth cause you'll be out of the race altogether.

Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts. Be safe and stay at home when you can and don't forget to use your e-brake. Later.
