Tundra Limited 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

I PURCHASED A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA LIMITED MAY 2014. HAD SOME SURFACE RUST ON THE BED WAS TOLD IT WAS NO BIG DEAL COULD BE REPAIRED WITH NO PROBLEM. TOOK MY TRUCK TO MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THE TRUCK WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND THEY WOULD CONTACT THE TOYOTA REP ABOUT THE BED ROT IN THE TRUCK BED. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $9000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT TO WAIT TO HEAR BACK FROM THE TOYOTA REP. AFTER A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS THEY DECLINED MY CLAIM STATING THE RUST PROTECTION WAS GOOD FOR 50.000 MILES AND NO MORE AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME WHAT SO EVER IN THIS MATTER. IF I HAD KNOWN TOYOTA HAD A BED ROT PROBLEM I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THIS TRUCK. I HAVE LEARNED TOYOTA HAS FIXED QUITE A FEW OF PEOPLES TRUCKS BEDS ON THE TUNDRAS BUT NOT ALL. HOW IS THAT FAIR?

Tundra SR5 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

where to begin.... first off this problem was complained about under warranty yet there's absolutely no record that Toyota has to back up this evidence, second I contacted 2 different dealers both "couldn't help me because it was not under warranty" but finally got one of the dealers to submit this claim to Toyota to look at and review which was denied due to the fact it was not warranted. I spoke to the north east(us) clams manager who said it would not be an issue to resolve if there was record of this being complained about under warranty. we were a Toyota loyal family but since the dealer screwed us on not recording our concerns properly(under warranty) and Toyota not standing behind their product this is the second Toyota truck that has needed a new bed. something needs to be done about this Toyota, when I trade this truck in not only were us(the first owners) very unhappy but will make who ever buys the truck pre owned just as unhappy as us. either Toyota need to own up and replace the bed or this WILL be the last Toyota I will ever own!!!!!

Tundra SR5 TRD 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

I am a manager at a Toyota store, bought this pre-owned truck, 2008 Toyota Tundra with 28000 miles. Or was about to. Was going to put a spray bedliner in when the place called me saying I should look at the bed first. I get there and it is bubbling from underneath the bed, 5 spots are rusted out badly to where it is soft. I would have bought the truck had Toyota fixed this. When I spoke to the rep I was dismissed like a child. It's out of warranty, anything else?

There is a bulletin within Toyota that there is an ongoing issue with this. When I said how would the original customer have known when the original bed liner was still on it? Her response was I put too much into the truck, I should have inspected it better. This is terrible. I am a Toyota Homer, I drink the kool aid. I love this product and can defend just about any action. But this is terrible. They know there is an issue, yet shy away from taking care of it.

Who ever buys this truck I'm sorry. $7000 TO FIX. Too expensive for me. Just needed to get this off my chest. Toyota lost a loyal customer today, sad thing is, one who works for you. If you can't stand behind your product don't expect me to lie for you.

Signed - Very Disappointed
