Issue diagnosed as collapsed lifter causing rocker arm to come detached, resulting in a cracked head on the passenger side. Slight coincidence this all occurred 9000 miles after cam tower leak repair at the dealership. I did end up negotiating the repair cost down to $5500 from $7600, the free loaner I was driving probably helped that, and as I stated I'll keep driving the loaner until we work something out. I have searched all over and nothing like this seems to be a common issue, was not able to locate a single other instance of this happening. Obviously Toyota US was no help, truck was originally from Canada, so I called Toyota of Canada - also no help. I guess a significant engine failure is of no concern to Toyota. Truck is at 123,000 miles now, with no further issues.
