problem #1

Tundra

  • 80,000 miles
Wiper mechanical components under the hood broke loose from wiper transmission on drivers side during heavy rain/sleet/snow without warning. Passenger side still worked. Research indicates years 2015-2018 non lubricated, non repairable plastic components used in mechanical arms wear quickly. Rust because components not protected from weather as preciously built. Would have caused an accident on two lane road if not for passenger to guide to safe stop. This occurred on two lane highway driving highway speed with oncoming traffic. The complete wiper components need to be safety recalled and replaced with redesigned components on all Toyota models affected. Wiper linkage - Toyota (85150-0C070). Note: D not have exact date this occurred because left sitting until weather cleared.
