Yaris LX 1.33L

  • Manual transmission
  • 5,592 miles

Toyota Yaris 2012, 1.33 VVT-I - 1 NR = ENGINE CODE// Since I reached 9000 km the car has started to has an annoying engine vibration at idle. I saw that plastic cover of the engine is vibrating quite hard and this idle vibration is felt in pedals, driver seat and passenger seat. I adv. this issue to Toyota Service and 1 year oil and filter change they perform an electronically diagnose of the car an they didn't find anything wrong on it. Even if they give a written paper that the car is working very good this engine vibration at idle is steel there and I can get out of my mind.

Yaris

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

This could be just a characteristic of the design of the Yaris engine in general. At idle (most often when the engine is warm), there is vibration that can be felt through the steering wheel and the drivers seat. This usually starts after a few seconds of idling at a stop light. Shifting to neutral dampens the vibration somewhat. Toyota tech could not find anything out of the ordinary.

I do not recall this idle vibration being present in the first 1000 miles of driving. It seems to me that the idle was higher during that period and has since decreased to around 600 - 700rpm. Vibration goes away in neutral with rpm at 800 - 1000 rpm. Perhaps the idle is too low.
