Atlas SEL R Line 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

I bought the 2018 Atlas new in October of 2019. On October 29, 2019, the car's engine blew up after pumping gas. VW changed the engine over my objection. I wanted to negotiate a credit towards a new one. I picked it up on November 20, 2019. The electronic seemed off and within 10 miles of driving it, coolant light went from low to critical. The engine began to overheat and I was forced to the side of the road. It's at the dealer as of November 22, 2019, dealer indicates that coolant belts were not tightened. I think it just a horrible truck.

Here's some of what diagnostic from Volkswagen says: "FOUND INTAKE DAMAGED DUE TO DETONATION." "TECH REMOVED LEAK DETECTION PUMP, EVAPORATIVE CANISTER, AND EVAPORATIVE PURGE VALVE. TECH PERFORMED WEIGHT COMPARISON WITH KNOWN GOOD COMPONENTS. COMPONENTS MEASURED 2.81 KG COMPARED TO 2.4KG FOR KNOWN GOOD VEHICLE." "TECH REMOVED INTAKE AND INSPECTED WITH BOROSCOPE. TECH REMOVED INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAMSHAFT AND PERFORMED LEAK DOWN TESTS. TECH FOUND CYLINDER THREE LEAKAGE BETWEEN 70-80%. REMAINING CYLINDERS 10-25% LEAKAGE. TECH REMOVED OIL PAN AND FOUND PLASTIC DEBRIS FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD IN PAN AND IN PICK-UP TUBE FOR OIL. TECH UPDATED VTA. TECH ADVISED TO REPLACE ENGINE LONG BLOCK"

I am still waiting to find out what is really wrong as of today - November 22, 2019.
