Headliner coming off, THIS should not be happening. This was a problem back in the 50's. VW should step up to fix ! otherwise it will be my last VW I buy !

the interior lining has fallen off the interior lining has fallen off

The problem started to manifest itself in late 2012. My wife put some upholstery clips on the first sign of the problem and didn't think any more about it. As of now, there are at least 10 places where the headliner has completely opened up in the car. It has completely detached around the mirror lights behind both sun visors and the cabin light. In addition, it has 3-6 inch gaps in at least 4 other places. In other words, it is completely coming off. When I asked the VW dealership, where I bought the car, about the problem they said they never heard of it. Of course it is well past warranty, but the quality is really abysmal. I took it to a professional upholstery shop that specializes in headliner work and the owner just chuckled. He said it is a large problem with VWs, not just the Beetle. It will cost approximately $285 to replace the headliner, including the headliner on the sunroof hatch. I have submitted a complaint to VW through the dealership to see what they say, but I full well expect to be eating this cost. Between this problem, window problems, and the sunroof opening on its own, I am done with VW.

Yes, I just noticed recently that my 2007 headliner is coming down off the interior roof of my car. Of course, it's no longer under manufacturer's warranty. This car is just turning 5 years old, no leaks in sunroof or anywhere on the interior roof of the car. I have never had a headliner come down off the interior roof of any car I have owned and I have owned new cars, newer used cars and older used car. I even had 1 car whose sunroof leaked and that headliner never came off the interior roof of that 12 year old car. I went online to complaint boards looking to see if other customers experienced the same problem and to my surprise there were many experiences like mine. I contacted VW Corporate head quarters only to be told that my car is no longer under the manufacturers warranty and therefore, they will not pay for the repair. I wrote them back complaining again. To be told that I would have to have my issue diagnosed at a VW dealership service center, pay for it and then they may come forward with some assistance but, all would depend on what the diagnosis was. I wrote back refusing to pay for a diagnosis of a headliner that was poorly manufactured and poor quality workmanship. I feel that VW should stand by their cars and fix interior issues on newer used cars that were not manufactured properly. I will keep complaining to all that will listen. I am not alone with having a faulty headliner in my 2007 Beetle. There is no sense in pride with these big Car Corporations. They only stand by their cars up to the expiration date of a warranty.

I noticed that the lining had fallen out some from around the front passenger door and around the back. Yesterday I got into my car, drove to work and parked. I reached in the back seat to grab my bag and the entire lining from the back to the mid interior light fell off! I couldn't get it tucked in and had a horrible, dangerous time driving home. This is dangerous and I wonder if this is a defect, like someone used the incorrect adhesive, or just luck of the draw? I also wonder how much it will cost to get it repaired?
