My car was working fine until it started not idling well, then the check engine light came on. I stopped and shut the car off and had difficulty starting the car again. I called the dealer immediately, and they told me to drive it the half mile to the dealership. They checked the car and at first they thought it was coils that went bad, then came back and told me it was the timing chain had slipped badly. I did some internet searches on the issue and found out that this is a problem the VW has known about all along and there are class action suits in place. I am mad because I have always taken my car to the dealer for service and, if they knew this was an issue, they should have informed me that parts needed to be replaced to prevent this issue. I want to know if the dealership is responsible to replace my engine since it looks like that is what needs to be done.
