GTI With Convenience And Sunroof Automa 2.0L

Started with sunroof opening up by itself when car is not on... And progressed into heavy leaks into the car when it rained, causing electrical problems which I still have not fully fixed. We cleared out the drainage holes of the sunroof many times but problem persisted. I do not have warranty anymore with dealer so I could not get help from them as far as repairing problems. So I had to address each issue individually to determine cause, hence we did determine that the water was coming from the sunroof.

Damages include: heavy water moisture inside of car, wet floors and door panels, peeling upholstery on doors and ceiling, electrical issues ranging from blown fuses to most recent error codes causing communication errors to transmission and causing transmission not to shift properly. I have had to dry out the car many times as well as the fuze box and connectors so car would work again but that took days every single time.

My most recent solution was to disconnect the sunroof all together and add an extra water absorbent seal on the inside of sunroof so just in case water still gets in, the absorbent will soak it up. I can catch the leak right away and hopefully not let it get into the electrical system again. There are no recalls for this problem for this year's model but it has the same problems we reported on 2016 to present models so the recall they placed on those years should be retracted to as far back as 2012.
