Luckily I was driving slowly on a rural road. The right rear wheel started "sliding" around and in a few seconds literally snapped off. It could clearly be seen hanging out the side of the car, barely supporting it. Apparently the friction had welded the wheel to the support and the entire rear wheel assembly needed to be replaced. I had it done at the dealership and despite paying close to $700 Canadian for this, they didn't do a tire alignment so the car shakes pretty violently when it drives now. Towing/repairs/new tires close to $1200 in total costs.
