When I stop at red light on any kind of road, my car stops the engine and auto hold becomes active. So I can release my foot from pedals. When light turn green I press my foot to gas pedal in order to go forward. Generally my car starts engine properly and turn off auto hold park brake. Sometimes that doesn't happen. My car turns the auto hold off and tries to start engine as always but it fails. This time engine stops and gas pedal doesn't function. It looks like you have an old car and trying to kick start (march) by contact key.
