This car is a 2016 Golf Sportswagen SE with 56 K... Had a flat tire on or around Oct 15 2018.. opened the spare tire compartment and found pools of water. Use a wet vac to remove the water.. Two weeks later after an all day rain checked the spare tire well.. Found over an inch of water in the whole spare tire well...This model Golf has a sun roof. I can only assume the water is coming from the sun roof drainage system....

I have only used the sun room briefly once maybe twice...Totally stumped as to HOW water gets leaked into what should be a sealed compartment.. This model VW has CD player amp mounted above the spare tire... Not sure if this system still works due to water/moisture damage???..

My guess is that this leak has been going on for some time without my Knowledge.. Who checks the spare tire compartment unless you need the spare?

My local VW dealership said it would be a week before they could look at it... Said that I would have to pay for the diagnostic and maybe the repair depending on the reason for the problem. Like they will cover the cost... yeah right......

Anyone else out there with this same problem? AND... were you able to have it repaired so the leak stopped?

Did you have to pay for the repair? Look forward to responses.....

water was leaking into the spare tire compartment

I just bought the car and was looking at everything when I got home and found a pool of water where the spare tire was. Apparently someone at the factory forgot to connect tubes that drain rainwater from the sunroof grooves to under the car and all that water went into the spare tire compartment. The service department fixed the issue and the problem has not happened since. But this problem was just a foreshadowing.
