problem #2

Dec 152021

Golf GTI SE 2.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 56,890 miles

The water pump is leaking and dripping on the plastic skid pan. I noticed it when changing my oil. I had the same problem with my 2001 Jetta Turbo. It's the same basic engine. Dealer replaced it at n/c, but I was told this is not covered by the latest recall.

problem #1

Jan 152021

Golf GTI Autobahn SE 2.0L Inline Tsi

  • Manual transmission
  • 82,534 miles

This is common with these Volkswagen engines so I wasn't surprised by the leak. The only part failure on my MKVI GTI was also the water pump.

It was covered under an extended warranty for the cost of the $250 deductable.

Should be noted my engine never overheated - the highest oil temperature I saw was 232°F.
