Jetta GL 2.5L

While driving on the freeway, my drivers seat started moving on its own! The top part pushes me up against the steering wheel while the lower part pulls me back so I can't reach the pedals! I tried to move it back but it keeps fighting me. This is really scary while driving 70 mph with a two year old in the backseat!

I called the dealership and was told I would be charged $140 just to look at it, plus whatever parts are needed because it's not under warranty. This has nothing to do with a warranty! It's a defective part! The tow truck driver I called wouldn't touch it because of legal reasons, so how am I supposed to get home?

This is a very serious and dangerous defect and I'm supposed to pay for it because my car is older? I see that there are numerous others with this same issue but VW is not offering any solutions. I guess they want to wait until someone is killed before they look into it? All I want is some help to disconnect the damn thing and they want to charge me for it. Volkswagen sucks! I'm definitely going to start looking for an American made car!
