Well it looks like the sunroof problem is back again! I brought my VW 2013 Jetta into the dealer because we were having problems with condensation on the inside of the windows. No matter how high we put the defrost on or air on the windows or the passenger compartment we couldn't get the windows to clear causing a huge problem with visibility and safely driving the car especially at night. Found out yesterday that the drain plugs in the sunroof were clogged which caused water to back up into the passenger compartment both front and back seats. Was told that the part in the front of the sunroof that pops up was clogged and had to be replaced. Not only did that have to be replaced but the carpet had to be removed and the padding under the carpet had to be replaced because of mold. I was told that was $1178 and change for that to be taken care of. I called today and was told that not only was the leak from the clogged drains but that the seal on the back of the sunroof also needed to be replaced because there was water inside the trunk and the spare wheel well. The part to fix this is another $300 on top of the $1178 originally quoted. VW was sued because of this in prior year models. This is dangerous, especially since I have heated seates. Couldn't that cause a short and a possibility of getting shocked and or burned because of the defect in the sunroof seals and clogged drain plugs? If VW paid out 69 million dollar settlement for previous models having the same problem, should VW have fixed this once and for all? I have owned VW's since the 1980's. I have never had or seen a problem like this in any of my vehicle which also had sunroofs. I shouldn't have to pay this out of pocket if the class action suit was suppose to have this problem fixed once and for all!!!
