ignition lock/switch stuck in "on" position. unable to turn
1.) My niece, Judy Fraize, checked online to find out on your website and others that this has been a reoccurring problem with VW Jetta’s since 2012!!! The manufacturer should pay for the defect. Why hasn’t this recurring problem with VW Jetta’s been classified under RECALL by the manufacturer to fix it?
2.) I called a dealership service dept. in Houston. They told me to disconnect the battery. It didn't work because the alternator kept it running. They also told me that it’s not a recall. That’s Bull!
3.) This is a dangerous problem. Leaving the engine running until it runs out of gas surely harms the engine, etc.
4.) It is also a theft problem. If you have to leave the car running with the key in the ignition, anyone could steal the car.
5.) The distress is awful. I’m 81 years old, on a fixed income. I haven’t had it fixed because the price ($800.00 plus) quoted by the dealer to have the ignition replaced is too expensive for me to pay in a lump sum. I have to either take a chance that it doesn’t happen again or don’t buy groceries, go to the doctor, etc.
6.) I went in debt so that I could have a reliable car. Now I have a bigger problem… increased debt and an Unreliable car.
