Routan SEL 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 124,758 miles

This has happen dozens of times and burned out our starter motor, battery. I will be requesting VW to reimburse these repair costs which we contacted dealer about and they said it was 'designed' to stall the car. Huh???

Update from Sep 21, 2014: There's multiple youtube videos of this exact problem for example.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcE0MqH3zZU

Update from Jan 15, 2015: VW issued a recall in August 2014 on the Routan's ignition and as of 1/15/15 still doesn't have a remedy. Our ignition actually failed, where our doors no longer locked, dome light stayed on and interior chime rang signaling the fob was still in the ignition when it wasn't. VW's response was this issue (better said failure) was unrelated to this recall which was ridiculous. We had to pay out of pocket to fix this ignition, a recalled ignition...what a joke! By the way VW has ceased it assembly agreement with Chrysler for the Routan.
