The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Routan. When the contact opened the rear sliding door on the driver side, the child safety latch fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the part was being ordered for the repair. The latch was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
