Hi,

So where do I begin with this really inferior car. First off its not a Volkswagen its a Chrysler (its a Volkswagen only in name - Chrysler actually makes the car). When I bought it I thought I was getting a German precision engine but it turns out I got an American crappy company engine (I have no issues with Ford or Chevy but Chrysler is another story)

I bought it in Feb 2013 and since then I've experienced almost every horror story mentioned on this website numerous times.

Every now and then when I turn the key to start the car, the car won't start. I have to open the hood and jiggle the battery somewhat (I learned to do this after about the 4th time having the car towed to the dealer and once we got there the car started without an issue). Each time they checked all connections and even the battery and "all was fine". I bought a portable battery charger and keep it in the back for instances that the "jiggling" won't do the trick (have used it 3 times already). This happens about twice a month and I fear each time I get in the car that that will be the time that the "jiggling" or the battery charger won't work anymore.

The only thing I haven't experienced yet that others have mentioned is the car stalling while driving - that really would be the final straw that forces me to get rid of the car and get an odyssey again (btw I got rid of the odyssey because it had 180k miles and was almost 10 years old - never gave me an issue).

I will never ever again buy a Volkswagen and advise you not to either...good luck

The car doesn't start. Each time all of the lights would come on but the engine did not turn over I can’t find the problem. Had battery replaced 3 times still same issue it's not all the time. I checked with VW care on Recall 15V194000 and they said not applicable to my car, now the car will not start the lights come on windows go down but the engine does not turn over and the electronic throttle control (ETC) light and malfunction indicator light is staying on (Help)

Bought the car from dealer in November 2010. After warranty expired, began having intermittent trouble starting the car. Each time all of the lights would come on but the engine did not turn over. Had battery replaced, starter replaced twice. Sometimes the car would start on the second or third try. Other times I was stranded and had to have the car towed for repair. Eventually I was told by my local mechanic that there was a recall on my car's ignition switch and to take it to the dealer. Dealer said that my car was not included in the recall.

I have had this happen (non start) probably 25-30 times. I have had the dealer look at it several times. Dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem. Finally, as a "best guess' repair, the dealer added another grounding wire at my expense and the problem came back within several weeks. The mechanic told me to try putting car in neutral when it won't start and to see if it will start from neutral. I have been able to start it 5 times from neutral. Now they are suggesting that the next "best guess" repair is to replace the transmission range switch per the VW techline. This will cost me $833.

I am frustrated beyond words. In addition to the failure to start problem, I have had the car shut off on me twice while driving it. I have reported that separately.
