problem #2

Touareg 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,000 miles

epc light came on. tensioner failed causing timing belt fail

tensioner failed. apparently made out of plastic. caused the timing belt/chain to jump a tooth. entire engine has to be removed to repair. half the cost was labor.

Touareg V6 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,500 miles

The cost of these repairs is completely ridiculous! $3500 for parts alone. I understand why this needed to be changed because it could destroy my engine if it completely broke. But I am basically buying a new car! They tell me it will last another 150k miles now. It was making a clanking sound when revving in neutral, & when getting up to speed, it would stick in 3rd & 4th gears & over rev. These were the only symptoms I could tell with the car when driving, besides the engine & epc lights coming on. The car only has 52k miles on it. Somebody help!
