e-Golf SEL Electric

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,800 miles

My car just shut down and I got an electrical warning do not drive. 5 people helped me push it off the road. The steering was manual and had it towed to a Volkswagen dealership. The vehicle only has 21800 miles on it and the warranty had expired 3 months earlier. The dealership which did not have a certified mechanic to work on the e golf diagnosed it with a failed motor at the cost of $7886.51 to replace.

I started a case with VW of America. Initial person basically told me it's out of warranty and it's at my cost, it went to a supervisor, then a regional manager. After a month the flew in a certified tech to diagnose the problem. The diagnosis was the same motor failed. VW was willing to fix it with a 30% discount at still 5500.00 and an estimate of 5 months to fix it. I negotiated with the General manager at the dealership where I originally punched the car to give me the full trade value and deduct the cost to repair the car and payoff my loan. I walked away after paying for this car for three years with nothing.
