My son purchased 4 cooper cobra G/T bl 39617 195/50sr15 tires on 10/29/03. 2 out of the four tires on the vehicle have exhibited defects in material/workmanship on two separate occasions. The defect was characterized as "belt separation" by professional tire shops where the tires had to be replaced. The first occassion occurred in November 2005. The tire started coming apart while driving on side streets average 35-40 mph. The second occasion was July 2006. In both cases the tires had to be replaced immediately and could not be brought back to the selling tire shop which was big brand tire comapny in thousand oaks, ca. In addition to the replacement cost incurred, I consider this to be a significant safety hazard. Out of the 4 tires purchased, 50% exhibited this defect.
