short caused engine fire short caused engine fire

I drove the car to town (4-5 miles) to CVS. Right before I got to CVS the dash lit up with all the indicator lights. I pulled in and parked. I went inside to get a prescription and came out and got back in the car. The car started smoking and I got back out. Three minutes later the car burst into flames. The fire dept was called to put the fire out. There hasn't been any work done on my car to warrant this fire. I was very lucky this occurred in town. Had this happened at my home it would have burned my house down before the fire department got there! Very scary!!! No one was hurt and I was able to get my belongings out of the car before it burst into flames. I was a lucky woman!!! God was watching over me.

short caused engine fire

My wife was driving to our kids school, about to turn into the parking lot. Arriving at the school, the parking lot attendant came out and started waving at her to not come into the lot, pointing at the car. She got out of the car, and saw smoke coming out of the engine. Within 50 seconds the engine was engulfed in flames. Fire department came out and put it out, complete total. FD report claims electrical short caused fire.

I've never had a car catch on fire like this, much less a $50k luxury vehicle like the MDX. Anyone else had an issue like this?
