Car was completely dead. We were 30 miles from home in a very rural area at 9 pm. I called Acura road side assistance and towed car back to dealership about 85 miles. Replaced battery, but could not identify the problem.

Dealer Service Complaint: Overcharge & Poor Repair
Dealer: Acura of Bay Shore — 1930 Sunrise Hwy, Bay Shore, NY 11706
I’d like to share my recent experience with Acura of Bay Shore where I took my MDX for a routine oil change — and ended up with disappointment and unnecessary charges.
When I explained the engine idle issue and airbag (SRS) warning light, the service advisor immediately said “starter motor replacement” — without even performing a diagnostic check! That suggests they already know this is a common problem with Acura MDX models, yet they’re treating it like an individual repair instead of a known issue.
What’s worse:
? They quoted me almost double the standard market price for the starter motor.
?? They charged a diagnostic fee for the airbag issue, which wasn’t fixed — the light came back the very next day.
?? And they didn’t even perform the oil change I originally came in for.
This is completely unacceptable service for a premium brand like Acura. Customers expect transparency, fair pricing, and proper diagnostics — not shortcuts, guesswork, and overcharging.
