I noticed a few times over the past few months, my rear hatch would beep and start closing right in the middle of my loading groceries. I thought I had touched something or it was just a fluke. Then, 2 days ago, on Apr, 25, 2021, I went to Walmart and had 20 or so sacks to load. I used my foot to kick activate the hatch to open (keys stayed in my purse) and started loading my sacks. It was a crowded day at Walmart with lots of car noises around me. I was about half way through loading my groceries when. Suddenly, I felt a thud to my head and I was literally knocked off my feet. I was almost knocked out with the piercing blow to my head. The hatch, once again, decided to close on its own. This time I couldn’t hear the warning beeps and just knew I had been knocked off my feet by a blow to the head. I am 71 and my 76 year old sister was huddled over lower than I was, loading her groceries. Otherwise, she would have been hit. I have a knot on my head that hurts to touch and my neck feels jammed, with a crick that keeps me from moving easily.
I absolutely loved my RDX until this happened. Now, I’m scared to load anything in the back. I am terrified too think of what might happen if this malfunction injured a dog, or worse, a child.
This is my second Acura and thought I would always drive an Acura. Now, I want to trade my RDX in and go with a Lexus.
I did not go to the doctor but will if I am still in pain tomorrow.
