Very very frustrated. I buy a brand new car and the oil pump has failed. The oil light came on and stayed on during driving, unless I shut the car off, let it cool and restarted it - especially on hot days. I called service at the dealership who was sure it was just a sensor problem. But when it happened on the next time I drove the car, I knew it had to be towed to the dealership. The problem threw no codes to the maintenance system, so the techs at the dealership drove it for the needed 20+ minutes and sure enough, it came on again. Who knows what damage has been done to my engine over the 2960 miles the pump was likely not functioning properly. I'm going to demand an extended engine warranty for 10 years, including labor.
