Rear window shield shattered while the car is sitting in the park with no exterior impact. According to Acura there is a bulletin about this issue. Contacted the dealer they're manipulating this by charging customers...

I didn't know or understand what had just happen since I was not hit nothing was thrown at my car. Call Abington Acura dealership was told they were aware of the problem. I would have to go through my insurance company for the $1100 repair don't understand how I am liable for an issue that was cause on Acura's behalf.

Rear window shatters without any warning can be extremely dangerous when happens while driving due to it sounding like a gunshot I can be severely distracting to driver causing the driver to lose control of vehicle or swerve into other lanes and injure other drivers. Incident occurred twice nice in November 2023 and a second time February 2025

On 12/21/24 I was driving down the mountain into town when I heard this very loud noise, like someone threw a baseball at my truck. I was startled and shaken up. Glanced in my rear view mirror and saw my rear windshield had exploded. When I was able to pull over to inspect it, the window imploded into the back of my truck. Drove directly to Safelite. Told to go through insurance which I did. Windshield repaired on 12/24, paid for by insurance. Found out in the meantime that Acura had an issue with 2019-2023 RDX exploding rear windshields due to a possible faulty rear defroster. I had just turned on my rear defroster before this happened to me. They issued a TSB to dealerships. I never got a recall. Contacted Acura for insurance reimbursement and wanted to have my electrical system checked at their expense. After several conversations, I was denied. Case was closed last week. Although my vehicle was a 2019, my vin was not included in campaign. I also was not privy to what the exact recall said as my vin was not included. I was told I should-??ve brought it to a Honda dealer for inspection and repair. Why would I do that when I didn-??t know there was an Acura issue? I live in the Adirondacks where it snows every day. Time was of the essence. Now I will not use my rear defroster in fear it may happen again. I also will not use my heated seats as I am afraid there is an electrical issue. I can live without the heated seats but driving without a rear defroster in the North Country is not exactly safe. I had asked for them to broaden their recall as it was obvious the same thing happened to my truck but was denied. I have googled and found there a quite a few people who this has happened to, one woman has it happen twice within three months. I feel this is an extremely dangerous issue that Acura will not take accountability for. I also have not had recall done as the nearest dealer is an hour away. Acura will not allow me have have it done by Honda dealer 20 min away.

THE BACK WINDOW OF THE RDX RANDOMLY SHATTERED. I HAD JUST FINISHED PUMPING GAS, CLOSED THE DOOR, AND THE WINDOW SHATTERED. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH A HOLE IN MY BACK WINDOW WITH GLASS FALLING AS I DROVE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD BECAUSE MY CAR'S WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, I HAD TO PAY $1200, AND I HAD TO WAIT SIX DAYS BEFORE IT COULD BE FIXED. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFEAT THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE DEFROST SYSTEM. THE DEALER NEVER LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE. I HAD TO GO THROUGH MY INSURANCE COMPANY. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN. I HAD TO GO ONLINE TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH RDXs from 2019-2023. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PUT OUT ANY MONEY FOR WHAT IS AN ACURA DEFECT.

It is about 50 degrees clear, with no rain. I drive onto the highway and hear what sounds like a gunshot. The Rear window explodes, and then glass flies all over the car; I roll down my window, and then glass goes everywhere, and all my stuff in the car flies around. I pull over and assess; this is the same thing that happened to me last year. The window randomly exploded. I called my insurance company, and they replaced it, but now the glass is stuck in the door. I called three 3 Acuras, and they all mentioned they hadn't heard of the issue until I mentioned the bulletin; now they say they have heard of it before but don't know if there is a way to help. This morning I awoke to another shattered rear windshield. I had the exact same thing happen in January of this year. This is my second out of cost rear windshield replacement due to the known problem Acura has failed to address. While we were driving we heard what sounded like a shot, when we pulled over we noticed the rear window was shattered, and noticed nothing had gone through or hit it After inspecting it. My daughter was scared to stay in the car so we had to call someone to pick them up and give them a ride. The dealership told me my vehicle is no longer under warranty only drivetrain warranty and that it was not their problem to call my insurance is what I got told.
