One Saturday morning I went out to my car, opened the door and heard a loud "POP" sound. I had no idea what the hell happened! Scared the living s*** out of me!!! I then realized that the back windshield had spontaneously combusted!!! I was in total shock. The glass was in bits all over the inside of the car and my driveway. I immediately called Acura and was told that I needed to contact my insurance company.
The insurance company said to get it repaired at Safelite Glass, not Acura because Acura will charge too much for labor and it will not be covered under insurance. Apparently, Acura will remove the entire hatchback to remove all the glass that fell in between which I am told is very laborious. This is a leased car that is going back in a year, so if I have to live with glass rattling I will!!! I am not paying for extra labor!! My deductible is $500, so that is what the repair will cost with Safelite. The problem is that Safelite tells me the windshield is on back order for an INDEFINITE amount of time, so I have to drive around with PLASTIC on my damn car until it comes in!!!
This is great in these freezing temperatures, not to mention that I cannot go to the carwash to get all the salt off the car. I am overall beyond pissed off to see that this is happening to so many of us!!! STEP UP ACURA AND REIMBURSE US FOR THIS NIGHTMARE!!! They are very lucky my children were not in the car!!!!!

I have had nothing but problems with this car ever since I bought it. They include: (1) Engine replacement; (2) Infotainment System shutdown, popping sound when playing; (3) Glass exploding for no reason (Temperature was 70 degrees); and (4) Safelite is unable to get all the glass out of the panel because it is factory sealed, a design flaw.

Liftgate glass shattered during cold/snow/ice event. Repair process is awful. To date, there is shattered glass in the lift gate that cannot be removed. Acura provides no advice on how this problem occurred or the solution. They do not warranty the glass and advise to initiate an insurance claim.
