A bought a 2004 RSX Type S, six speed manual transmission back in 2007. The car had less than 17k miles on it and it already had the problem of the 3rd gear popping out or grinding. I researched this issue and its a very common issue in the Type S. I had the base model RSX prior and I never had this issue (both sticks). Research I found online said people tried getting the dealership to deal with it, but they wouldn't. Honda is aware of the problem, but there's no fix for it. If it get bad enough, you have to replace it, but for the most part, i just ignored it and it was fine- but annoying when shifting and going into third and it pops back to neutral. I have owned 2 Acura RSXs and now a Honda Accord, Ive never once had to bring any of my cars to a repair shop!
