When power is disconnected, the radio asks for a security code. Unfortunately, the owner's manual only give instructions on how to enter the code, but left out a key step: First, disconnect the antenna located at the back window. I handled this issue three times now and can confirm this is a critical step. Otherwise you'll enter the code repeatedly and the radio will lock you out.
I called several dealerships and got the following responses.
1) We need to dismount the radio for one hour of labor at $110.
2) You need to disconnect the antenna
The second hint gave me the clue to disconnect it at the rear window. Why dismount the radio just to unplug it from the back??
