The dashboard on the driver & passenger side in the area of the air bag is splitting in 2 areas. I observed this when the vehicle was parked overnight. I take good care of my vehicle and this is absurd that this should happen to such a high end vehicle. Loss of equity in vehicle is expected and Acura(Honda) should be held liable and responsible for fixing the issue. A recall notice should be implemented asap to avoid lawsuits from customers as myself. The safety issue is that the airbag system integrity has been compromised. Please advise with recommendation. Thank you

Two weeks ago I noticed a small (6") crack on the dashboard of my Acura TL 2006. It is located on the right side on the passenger side. Today the crack is longer ( around 12") and it seems to be wider. There is also a small (4") crack on the perforated area above the steering wheel. Even thought this is a 2006 model, it has only 47K miles. I think that neither age nor high mileage are a factor here. I used to own a corolla ce and drove it for nearly 160K miles and such thing has never happened to it. I am shocked that this is happening with a car considered luxury. My understanding was that the quality of the products used to manufacture this vehicle was higher thus the price for the same. I have read similar complaints and concerns which leads me to believe this is a defective part. Please investigate this issue. Thank you.

Dashboard over the passenger side airbag split open, exposing airbag cavity. Dashboard is now further splitting and I am concerned that the airbag may be damaged by exposure to sunlight, uv rays and/or dust that may now enter the airbag cavity. Additionally, I am concerned about safety and additional debris caused by the split airbag cover in the event the airbag does deploy. I have tried to discuss this issue with Acura, but they have declined to repair the dashboard.

Dashboard began to crack around the passenger dash airbag hole. This is a known manufacturer defect. This should be a safety concern as it relates to the proper deployment of the airbag in emergency situations. Airbags are intended to be deployed through the dashboard port. That port is designed to be the path of least resistance for the airbag. Deployment of the airbag in an unempeded path is important when a successful deployment is required. The cracks in the dashboard may result in an airbag deployment deflection away from the occupant within the milliseconds required to deploy and that which maybe necessary to prevent unnecessary injury to the occupant. The cracks may also result in flying debris that could injure the occupant upon airbag deployment.

My leather dashboard on the inside of my car has about 2 crack lines, my Acura 2006 TL dashboard started cracking since last month. Those cracks are just above passenger airbags. Not only they look ugly but also it can be safety concern too and cracks are running just above passenger airbag. I have never seen or heard of this condition on any car, and would expect not to see it on such a high end vehicle like my Acura TL. The dashboard should not be cracking at all. Acura says I need to pay $850 (in a deal ) to get this fixed instead of 1800, I don't think I should pay.

The contact owns a 2006 Acura TL. The contact stated that the dashboard was developing large cracks. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The technician diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure several times. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000. Updated 12/9/14 updated 01/07/15

The passenger side front sub-frame failed. The metal had fatigue in the area where the compliance bushing is mounted. If this part failed completely, there would have been a loss of steering and control. Part failure was discovered at Honda dealership when the vehicle was being serviced for a replacement timing belt.

Problem started with a small crack on my dashboard by the passenger airbag(outline of the airbag started cracking). After about a week the crack grew all the way to the windshield and now I have 2 cracks about a foot long each perpendicular to each other. Also another crack closer to the middle of the dashboard appeared about a week ago. That crack is about half the size of the cracks by the passenger airbag.

About 3-6 months ago, I noticed a crack on the passenger side of my Acura 2006 TL. Gradually the crack grew, then over time, I saw two more cracks in the areas where the airbags are located. Now these cracks are widening and I can see white in the cracks. My concern is that the manufacturer's defect will compromise proper deployment of the airbags in case of an accident. If so, this can have tragic consequences. I called the Acura manufacturer customer service. They informed me that it will cost me $1500-2000 and that the adjustment from them will be minimal because the warranty for such a thing has expired. I researched on the internet and discovered that this is a common problem for Acura. Please, please investigate and help others like me who are highly disappointed, discouraged and angry about the poor quality of materials used in the area that encases the airbags that should protect us from injury or death. For your information: My car has 92,000 miles and I have always taken good precautions to protect the dashboard with a windshield cover, used special conditioner and cracked my windows to keep the heat out. I also do proper and timely mechanical and electrical maintenance. I am the only driver and was hoping this would be my last car. Now, if I must sell my car, my car has depreciated substantially due to poor workmanship and I will have a car payment I don't need or can't afford. Do
