I was driving on a city street when I was coming to get ready to stop I started to break, at that time my brake system felt like I was slipping on black ice you could say. But the road was dry ! my vehicle wouldn't stop normal I somehow by the grace of god got it pulled to the side of the street ! my ABS and vsa and the triangle with ( ! ) witch is orange also all came on. I shut my car off ! and had it towed home.. I have had people look and show me behind my two front tires that the speed sensors are on both sides deterrated and the bolts are missing that connect everything in place. I have looked up and seen recalls on this same situation I am now going threw !

On Tuesday Oct 13, I was driving my 2006 Acura TL at 20 km/H and suddenly and unexpectedly the car accelerated on its own and the engine was roaring. I didn't understand what was happening but my immediate reaction was to press on the brake pedal. While the car slowed down a bit the acceleration continued and then I press onto the pedal very hard, the tires slipped to a complete halt, just a few inches from a very busy intersection where I was supposed to stop. While I hadn't still fully assessed full situation, I automatically switch the transmission to neutral and the engine was still roaring, madly. I turned it off and waited until I gain full consciousness of the situation; shifted transmission to parking. Some time later when I was already tranquil, I started the engine but the acceleration started, the engine again was roaring so I switched it off. I waited much longer and started the car again and this time it was ok. Since there is no Acura dealer in my hometown, I was advised to take it to a Honda dealer. The car spent the whole day but technicians couldn't find a problem. In another tighter situation (being closer to a busy intersection, or down a curve, etc), or if my wife or kids had been driving the car, this case could've been much more dangerous, even fatal. Two Acura dealers said they have never encounter such problems. I contacted Honda but they didn't know of anything similar. In a quick internet search, I found many sites reporting this same problem. How many accidents should there be, or how many casualties before authorities do something about it "?" my email address is [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The other day I picked up my twins from daycare at rush hour after work, proceeded to get on the highway where suddenly my tsa & engine lights come on, my car goes limp and we were in a very near-miss accident situation. I try to keep my calm as my children are keenly aware that something is wrong. I look at the dash, I look at the cars coming from the back and side, and I slowly creep along and immediately put my hazards on. Now I have to get myself from the left lane and maneuver in to the right with people coming up that can't yet see my distress signal. Fortunately, it was in fact a near-miss, and I was able to pull out of the driving lanes, stop my car, turn it off, and call my husband for help. I found that this exact situation has happened to many customers. Surely, there must be a recall on this accelerator pedal position sensor (app sensor). I call my new home's nearest dealership (libertyville il ) to ask about any recalls on my VIN, and to additionally check about recalls on the app sensor. Nothing. This, however, has been repeatedly reported to you by many people over the years, and today I am reporting it again. Libertyville il certified Acura dealership confirmed it was a sensor failure. In fact, when I spoke with [xxx] at the libertyville il location, I expressed my sincere feelings about the situation and how I could not understand how this is not a recall item. In his attempt to make me feel better he said, look, this is such a rare thing. In my 15+ years in this business, you're only the 4th case I have personally had.' Instead of reassuring me, this infuriated me. One mechanic 'turned-service manager alone has had four of these death trap sensors" seriously, I have to ask, how many reported incidents does it take" information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I was driving down the highway at ~60+ mph in traffic and tapped the brakes. The car lurched and almost came to a dead stop (I later learned that the automatic transmission had shifted into 1st gear). This happened 2-3 other times as I tried to move over and get out of the traffic flow w/O being able to fully deploy the brakes. I had to "coast" to a stop. The force of the lurch was enough to throw me forward in my seat. I feel very fortunate that the airbag didn't deploy and that I was able to move to the shoulder without incident. The loud clunk that the car made when this happened made me think I had hit a huge rock or something in the road. Beyond scary. I am the only owner of this car and it has been 100% maintained by the dealer.

2006 Acura TL (3.2L) accelerator pedal position(app) sensor had a intermittent failure causing a loss of power and acceleration during a left turn at a busy intersection. Confirmed by dealer by reading history of failure codes. Had to pull out of traffic and restart car. Acceleration returned but check engine light stayed on. This has only happened one time. Immediately took car to dealer where fault code was read and as the fault had cleared, I was told to continue to drive the car because there was a month wait for a new sensor due to a backlog of orders for this part.

My husband was driving the car and while in drive had his foot on the brake and the car revved up and lurched forward, he hit the brake hard to stop it. On October 5th I pulled into a parking space and applied the brake came to a stop and the car accelerated, I hit the brake hard and between the brake and hitting a curb came to a stop! on October 6th I was at a complete stop at a light facing uphill for at least a minute, the light was still red, traffic stopped I had my foot on the brake and the next thing I knew I was being propelled into the car in front of me! the police officer looked at all of the damage, the traffic conditions, talked to the witnesses and encouraged me to look into mechanical failure because it did not make sense! the woman in front of me went by ambulance to the hospital for a neck injury and my car has approx 3,000+ front end damage.
