Starting with my 2004 Acura TSX, I noticed this problem: the clutch during down-travel, particularly in slow shifts, sounded and felt "gritty." An oil and lube temporarily fixed the problem, but it returned. Next, I had a 6-speed 2006 TL and now I drive a 2007 TL, Type S. And I am aware of at least two 2005 TSXs with the same problem. My most recent to Acura constituted the complaint for the clutch. I was told Acura is aware of this. The dealer took pictures and video of the clutch and sent to Acura. Nothing has been done as yet. Granted, I do most of my driving in the city, but I have always had manual transmission and never experienced this problem. Hopefully, Acura will use the information and take care of the problem before the new generation Type S comes out in September. Here is to hoping...

It has been brought to my attention through similar consumer complaints that this year and model with manual transmission has always had issues from the factory. It is uncomfortable to drive and is not smooth. I have had this diagnosed from an Acura dealer and they have said it is dual mass flywheel issue. I understand that this is an internal part and would cost approx. $3000. to fix. What a shame for something that should not need replacing. Furthermore on a vehicle with less than 65000 miles.
