TL Sh-awd Elite 3.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 118,061 miles

Received letter from Acura Corporate last year for the extended warranty, stating the 3.7L V6 engine is known to burn oil. Tried getting my local Acura dealer to apply the extended warranty to the vehicle, i.e. replace piston control rings to resolve the engine burning oil. Service advisors keep dragging their ass stating how it's normal to burn over 1L of oil per 1500km. Tried calling other Acura dealers and speaking to service advisors, same thing.

I officially began the oil consumption test, i.e. going in 3 separate occasions, every 1500km to measure oil burning. They just top off the oil and they want you to come back two additional times. I'm losing faith in the Acura brand, as they know these 3.7L v6 engines burn oil and they just want to drag their ass for as long as they can. I'm hoping the car reaches 200,000 km so they can avoid doing the piston job, or by 2020 when it's out of warranty. I'll need to go in two more times to have the oil measured, but I already know it burns oil excessively and it's a pain to have to check under my hook weekly to make sure the oil is within the range of not damaging the engine. Not something I would have expected from a Luxury Performance brand, but I guess they don't make em like they used to. Should've bought a Lexus or Toyota. I'll see how they behave in the next two intervals. I may need to call Acura Client relations if they continue to drag their ass on this one.

TL SH-AWD 3.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,500 miles

MY CAR ONLY HAD ABOUT 35,000 MILES BUT I NOTICED IT SEEMED TO USE A LOT OF OIL. NO

SPOTS ON DRIVEWAY NOR DO I NOTICE IT SMOKING BUT I WAS ADDING OIL EVERY 1000 MILES.

NOW I'M ADDING OIL EVERY 500 MILES . THIS CAR ONLY HAS 47601 MILES ON IT. I ONLY DROVE 300 MILES AND HAD TO ADD 1/2 QRT. ARE YOU SERIOUS? I'M GOING TO GO TO DEALER. I UNDERSTAND

THEY HAVE AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, AS OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM.
