Here is my gripe. If you are thinking of purchasing an Acura, please do your research. The overall cars may be well built but if you have a problem just know the service department can be a disaster to deal with even if your car is under warranty. I bought a used Pre-certified owned (first time I bought used) 2008 TSX from Elk Grove Acura. Within owning it a month I told Acura it is making me nauseated because the car is constantly shifting. I had been in there dealership repeatedly. They sold me the car without programming the remotes (door locks) and told me to go to Radio Shack and replace the battery. The gentleman at Radio Shack said it's not the battery. I called Acura and turns out they didn't program the remotes. I was in there a week later because none of my chargers were working. I was back in a few days because the front tire kept loosing air. Turns out they sold me the car with a tire that had a slow leak.
So after owning the car 6 months, the car shut off while I was driving it at 45 mph. I could have got hit and the check emissions light went on. I took it into Elk Grove Acura and they stated they have to repeat the problem in order to fix the car. That week I got a call saying there is nothing wrong with the car. So I called and expressed that I mainly do freeway driving and that if the car stalls at 65 mph I am bound to be in a severe car accident. I got a call 5 minutes later saying they were able to get the check engine light to go back on and that they are replacing the accelerator sensor. I expressed to them that I hope they are not waiting for my warranty to end because I can be severely injured. That week I picked up my car and I was on the freeway in bumper to bumper traffic and going about 5-10 mph and my car turned off again.
I took it into Elk Grove Acura and they said there lead mechanic will drive it for 100 miles. They said they had no problems and I can pick up the car. The also said the battery cable may be corroded and I can pay 60.00 dollars plus labor to have it fixed and that my windshield wipers and brake light need to be replaced. I asked them if they realize I have only had the car for 6 months. They ignored me. Basically, I bought a lemon. A car that was never Pre-certified. They don't care about my safety and the fact that the car stalls randomly at any speed. They keep saying they have to mimic the same problem.
I was able to get hold of the previous owner and she said within two years her battery went dead. Sounds odd and this car has some serious problems. I will NEVER purchase another car from ELK GROVE ACURA for my sanity and safety. I will NEVER deal with the ELK GROVE ACURA service department either. They never add enough oil to my car when I have the oil changed. I did contact CUSTOMER RELATIONS after speaking with an attorney and they were not willing to give me a BLACK BOX that records codes every time the car fails. THIS IS A MAJOR RISK EVERYTIME I DRIVE THAT CAR. I asked the lady at customer relations if she would put her own child in the car, her husband in the car, or herself in the car and she said she is not telling me to drive the car and that's my choice 7,000 dollars down payment later. I will be out the 7,000 but my safety is more important. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A MONEY PIT AND DEALING WITH ELK GROVE ACURA HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE AS WELL AS CUSTOMER RELATIONS.
