The in-dash cupholder would not retract fully flush with the dash. I pried off the trim, pulled out the cupholder assembly, and discovered the spring steel roller (pic #1) had jarred out of place thus preventing the cupholder from going in all the way.
I created a flexible strappy holding thingy (pic #2) to help me set the roller in its original place (pic #3) and pull the spring out so I could reattach the end to the sliding portion of the cupholder. I had to use some Scotch tape to hold open the cupholder during this operation (pic #4 shows bottom view of assembly).
