About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The oil light continues to come on. I've had it changed two weeks ago and today it appeared again. It was totally empty and once I filled it up the light went out. The car was jumping and making a hhumm like noise. I was told that the turbo part of the engine needs to be replaced.

Purchased the vehicle from mckenna Audi in norwalk with 25,302 miles and oem warranty. The first issue was an unusual vibration from the engine at 29,761 mi. Audi of mission viejo claimed there was nothing wrong. At 36,120 mi, the transmission failed and was replaced. At 41,940mi, ignition coils were replaced after complaining of vibration/shuttering/hesitation. At 46,163mi, complained of shuttering/hesitation. Hose seals & timing belt roller were replaced. At 46,934mi, complained of same issues, Audi of mv claimed there was nothing wrong. At 48,552mi, complained of burning smell coming from engine, rough idle and vibration. Cam plug and injector were replaced. At 52,811mi, the entire engine was rocking back and forth (have video). Circle Audi of long beach replaced crank case & breather valve. Engine vibration/hesitation/shuttering continued after this repair. At 55,600mi, the vehicle suddenly without warning attempted to change into a lower gear (or park) while driving at 70 mph on freeway. This major mechanical failure could have led to injury or death. Vehicle was inoperable and towed to rusnak Audi of westlake village, ca. The transmission was replaced for a second time, after less than 20,000mi. At 56,000mi, the car is now vibrating, shuttering, hesitating again (only 1,000mi on "new" transmission). It is displaying all of the same issues that led up to the major mechanical failure on the freeway. Audi of mission viejo claims it is due to a leaking/cracked motor mount and improper transmission calibration. As you can see, the same issues have been occurring since time of purchase, and despite minor repairs, the transmission always fails. I believe the vehicle is irreparably flawed and unsafe. Audi of mv has also been neglected. Audi of America (corporate) has been contacted. My request for a buyback due to the dangerous nature of this vehicle has been denied.

2007 Audi A4 avant. Vehicle loses power when accelerating. The failure occurred each time I would accelerate in excess of 55 mph. To correct this failure a new camshaft, cam follower, and fuel pump were installed in the vehicle for a total of $1,749.97.

Since I got the car, A4 cabriolet 2.0T, I've been adding oil approximately every 3000 miles. The dealer was courteous, and ran the oil consumption test when it's around 9000 miles. They advised it's within the normal range, and I should see improvement. Well, it's now 21K miles, and I am still adding oil every 3000 miles. The maintenance guide said to change oil every 10K after the initial oil change, but never mention the need to add oil every 2-3 month. How is it normal? I talked to other Audi owner, and no one ever had to add oil before scheduled oil changes. I decided to file this complaint after I saw other complaints w/ the same the issue on the mycarstats.com.

Since I bought my Audi, I have had to put oil in it many times, and have been told this is normal for a turbo. I think that is crazy, and even an Audi service man told me not all of the turbos do that. I have also had an issue with the car seeming to lose power and jerk about twice a month when I am usually around 70 mph. It's almost as if the ignition is turned off for 1 second, then it acts fine. This is very startling when it happens.

I have had to replace many coilpacks and diverter valves over the past two years. Several were covered under warranty, but as soon as I was out of warranty I had to start paying for them. They break far too often and are far too expensive to not be covered by Audi.

We've experienced several incidents of the engine semi-stalling. This has happened at varying speeds. While driving, the engine hesitates as if someone has suddenly stepped on the brake pedal. This occurred while the car was engaged in cruise contral and normal driving.
