A4 Premium Plus 2.0t

  • Manual transmission
  • 82,000 miles

While attempting to merge with traffic, I was going through 3 - 6 gears. Notice RPM would rise rapidly, but vehicle didn't seem to be accelerating as the RPMs go up. Began to smell what smelt like burning clutch.

Pulled off to inspect vehicle. Upon looking under the hood, smoke was coming from engine bay, and a strong smell of burned clutch fluid. I allowed car to cool for almost 30 mins before attempting to drive. When attempting to drive home, car would going into all gears, but RPM does not match vehicle speed. In each gear, vehicle would shudder a little, and struggled to get up to speed.

I was able to slowly drive car home. However, transmission is slipping majorly. Pulling off in 1st gear, have to let out the clutch all the way at the top before vehicle will move from a stand still. I will have vehicle towed to independent dealer. There were no prior signs before this failure.
