I bought my Audi A4 Avant 1.4 petrol manual 2016 used from an Audi Dealer (Caffyns) in the UK. Soon after I took delivery of the car I took the car onto a motorway and at 70mph in 6th gear, the gearbox started to make a loud whining noise when the throttle is lightly accelerating. It's also noticeablein 5th gear at around 50mph.
I reported the problem to Audi and they inspected the car and acknowledged that it's a problem which Audi are going to issue a Technical Bulletin about and so they cannot fix the problem under warranty until the Bulletin is issued.
Three months on and still no word from Audi Technical Dept about the fix. In the meantime, long journeys are very tiresome as I have to endure the whining noise on motorways - it's like having tinnitus. Also assuming the problem is the gearbox bearings, I assume that metal swarf is now circulating around the gearbox doing further damage.
I have contacted Audi again to ask for news on the fix under warranty and am just told there's no news which is not satisfactory after having acknowledged that it's a manufacturing problem. I have tried to speak to Audi Customer Service but they are no use. All I want to know is when this fix will be issued under a Technical Bulletin
