Had drive system malfunction go off on the dashboard. The warning light goes off when turning off the vehicle but usually reappears shortly after driving again. Took it to a third part shop for diagnostics and they informed me it is turbocharger wastegate issue with a huge price tag of over $6K Canadian. They asked me to take the vehicle to Audi dealership to discuss whether they would be able to help in any way. Technician at the dealership diagnosed the issue as failed turbocharger wastegate and the attached video was provided to show the excess play in the wastegate. Since finding out about the issue I did some googling and found out this to be a fairly common issue and contacted Audi Canada to try to discuss reasonable next steps.
Unfortunately, the vehicle no longer is under warranty. However, even the dealership acknowledged this being a known issue. Long story short, communication from Audi Canada has been non-existent. I initially submitted everything on Nov 28 and followed up Dec 11 to find out my complaint is "under investigation". Called them again Jan 2 to inquire about the status of my email and was informed they had not received the diagnostic report they required. Resubmitted everything the same day and on a follow-up call Jan 8 was told that Audi Canada isn't responsible for anything related to the turbocharger wastegate failure for vehicles past warranty period but as a goodwill gesture they are willing to offer 10% off parts and labour. With the huge price tag for the repair, I requested to speak to someone to escalate the issue and was told the decision is final and there is no escalation process. I requested their decision on writing and have yet to receive anything. Sounds like Audi North America is choosing a different approach with the wastegate issues so curious to hear if others have faced this same issue and what kind of "goodwill gesture' did you receive, especially from Audi Canada. Is it normal for Audi North America to provide different kind of customer care than Audi Canada and what is my option for escalating this to (which governing body oversees vehicle manufacturers)? Thank you for any help or suggestions you can provide. I'm beyond frustrated.
